BNSF Railway Announces Two New Certified Sites
Fort Worth, Texas, June 30, 2021 – BNSF Railway Company (BNSF) today awarded two new locations its Certified Sites designation. The new locations will bring their respective states to a total of three certified sites for Texas and four for Montana. In order to be considered for the designation, sites must undergo a thorough analysis which includes an evaluation of environmental and geotechnical standards, available utilities, site availability and existing and projected infrastructure. All Certified Sites offer the convenience of direct rail service.
The newly-designated Certified Sites feature acreage ready for industrial development:
- Somerville Industrial, Somerville, Texas – This property consists of 103 acres without zoning requirements or restrictions and is conveniently located east of State Highway 36, only 20 miles outside of Bryan-College Station, Texas.
- Fort Peck Tribal Industrial Park, Poplar, Montana – Zoned for heavy industrial, the site encompasses 45 acres located north of U.S. Highway 2 on the Fort Peck Reservation outside city limits, in Roosevelt County.
Certified Sites are a part of BNSF’s Premier Parks, Sites and Transload program. The program is a strategic approach that addresses the increasing demand for customer site locations by developing various types of facilities across BNSF’s network. Businesses looking to locate at any of these properties could save six to nine months of construction time as a result of this analysis. BNSF Certified Sites are reviewed by an industry expert in order to ensure accurate, reliable data. The goal of the program is to provide an inventory of rail-served sites that are available for immediate development.
Details for all 29 BNSF Certified Sites are available at bnsf.com/rail-development.
